Who the Hell is this Alternative Lowbrow Artist Michael Beckerman?

Michael Beckerman was born in Queens, New York and moved to an extremely Caucasian part of New Jersey soon thereafter and against his will. Mike was an angry, hyperactive child. He skateboarded down the steepest hill in town and lost all the skin on a leg, only to heal very nicely. Mike can make oatmeal with startling consistency time and time again. He played drums at a young age but soon realised he would never be the next drummer for Slayer and moved on. Living in New Jersey's interior for most of his life, Mike often dreams of moving to the coast…though he fears sharks (and their vicious attacks) immensely.

Creating art has been an outlet in Mike's life since he was a young boy and his style is a direct extension of his eclectic, senseless humor. Horses wish they could ride Mike around pastures green as filth. Mike wants to wear slacks forever and a day. Mike comes from a creative family which includes songwriters, screenwriters and self-taught painters - all institutionalized. Things are going well for Mike…until of course tragedy strikes.

While many friends and family have shown support and continue to do so, and I appreciate them all, I need to acknowledge two people in particular. First and foremost my dad George Beckerman. From day one, he encouraged my art, nurtured it and was always a straight shooter in his opinions of my work. He is a point of paramount significance in fleshing out many of my ideas for new paintings. He is the first person I run a new idea by and the first person I show the finished product to. Next is William Morrison. Bill is a lifelong friend who has spent countless hours building this website with little compensation. I will never actually know how much of his free time he has dedicated to this site. At times with more enthusiasm than myself. He is also one of the few I take in to serious consideration their thoughts and opinions. He has added innumerable ideas of his own which are all over the site and make it what it is. He continually looks to re-invent and seek ways to make this site better, stronger, and faster. Not unlike Colonel Steve Austin a.k.a. The Six Million Dollar Man. Thank you both.
